As many people in older homes have seen, There appears unusual shadows on the ceiling surfaces. Ive been told that painting them doesn’t help as they return. This is caused by a temperature change between the attic and interior rooms. It is caused by compacted insulation or insulation that has been moved out of place. By replacing the affected area an then repainting the problem should be taken care of. The use of a infrared camera will show all missing or problematic areas. Call Home Inspection Services for more Information.

Ice damming occurs when melting snow on the roof drains into the gutters. At this point the water re-freezes. Enough frozen water accumulates and before you know it the water is seeping under the roof shingles as well as damaging your gutters. Water entry into the home is the #1 cause of mold conditions. Ice dam conditions can be prevented a number of ways, from adding low voltage heating elements to adding additional ventilation in the attic spaces. You can tell if your having a ice dam condition by the large icicles hanging from you gutters. Call Home Inspection Services for more information.
